Read on to learn more about things to make with rhinestones for Easter.

Keepsake Eggs

Nothing says Easter quite like Easter eggs, so why not take the time to make some stunning, sparkling keepsake eggs for Easter? Eggs lend themselves easily to any combination of colors and designs, making this one of the most creative projects this season.

What you’ll need:

  • Wooden eggs (you can usually find these at craft stores)
  • Paint (optional)
  • E-6000 glue
  • Small, flat-backed rhinestones in a variety of shapes, colors, and sizes—we particularly like round, oval, and navette shapes
  • Hotfix applicator
  • Pencil (for drawing a template on your eggs)

If you intend on covering the entire surface of the egg with rhinestones, feel free to leave the egg’s surface its natural wood color, but if you want to make patterns with some of egg’s surface exposed, you may want to paint the egg first to get the background color you desire. You may want to lightly pencil your design on the egg before you begin or use it to draw straight lines if you want to make a pattern of stripes.

From there, it’s entirely up to you! There are countless combinations of colors and patterns—the possibilities are practically endless. The end result will be a unique, beautiful keepsake egg that makes a great statement piece or a special gift.

Spring Flower Jewelry

We at the Rhinestone Shop love the Easter season not only for celebrating the holiday but also for celebrating the colors and joy that comes with the arrival of spring, particularly the arrival of spring flowers. Making shimmering, sparkling jewelry that celebrates flowers is easy to do and allows you to use some fun shapes play with colors. Pinks, greens, purples, and blues and all excellent choices for a foundation for spring flowers.

What you’ll need:

  • Rhinestone settings
  • Flat pendants (for making necklaces)
  • Earring backings
  • Flat bangles (for bracelets)
  • E-6000 glue
  • Rhinestones (rounds, teardrops, and navettes are particularly good for making flowers)

Making flowers out of rhinestones are pretty easy in terms of layout. You’ll want a round rhinestone in the center, surrounded by teardrop or navette stones with the points toward the center stone. If you’re making pendants, simply use a flat base and glue, and you’ll have a beautiful spring flower necklace in no time. Follow the same pattern for earrings. If your making bracelets, use flat bangles as your base and smaller sized rhinestones for a more delicate look.

One of the most fun aspects about making small jewelry like earrings and pendants is that you can actually put them inside Easter eggs and give them as a unique Easter gift!

Accent Pillows

Accent pillows are a fantastic way to show off the luster and brilliance of European crystal rhinestones. Small pillows are cute and will bring a certain sparkle to any room, creating a festive atmosphere. Pillows lend themselves nicely to a variety of patterns and themes so again, you can really get creative with your work.

Some suggestions we have for pillow patterns include:

  • Bunnies
  • Flowers
  • Easter eggs
  • Easter baskets
  • Chicks

Free pattern templates are available online, or you can draw out your template by hand (if you’re one of those gifted artists). Once you have your template, you’ll need flat-backed, hotfix rhinestones, E-6000 glue, and a hotfix applicator. Small stones are great for drawing outlines, while other shapes can create exciting patterns. Easter egg designs lend themselves particularly well to creative patterns, and piecing together teardrop or navette shapes can make beautiful flower patterns. You can even write out messages of cheer to celebrate the Easter holiday.

Once you’ve determined your pattern, the rest is simply application. Remember to keep your supplies organized and use glue and your hotfix applicator to apply the individual rhinestones.

This same technique can be applied to other projects. You can use this process on t-shirts, jackets, and more. If you’re a fan of handwork, you can always use flat-backed, sew-on rhinestones, which may be more efficient, depending on how large or small your project is.

Easter Shoes

Easter season usually means it’s time for new Easter clothes and shoes. Adding rhinestones to your new Easter shoes is a fun way to add some spring in your step. Rhinestones can also be applied to older pairs of shoes to give them new life. Rhinestone-adorned shoes appear vibrant and will turn your Easter outfit into a dazzling showstopper.

For luminescent footwear that is guaranteed to draw some attention, simply add rhinestones to those bright white shoes. Using E-6000 glue will give you the best results, as the glue dries quickly and gives you the assurance of a strong setting, but make sure you work in a well-ventilated area.

Hair Accessories

Hair accessories like hairpins, headbands, and combs are a fun way to add some sparkle to your Easter outfit. Like with jewelry, you can cover hair accessories with rhinestones, provided you have a flat surface to work on. Hair combs are particularly nice for adorning with flower designs, as they offer a little more surface area than say, a small headband. Headbands are particularly easy to adorn with rhinestones, and using a thin headband as a base will create a subtle effect that’s sure to earn you some compliments. Hairpins are another way to add a subtle touch of light and color to your hair and makes for a fast project if you’re looking to make something small and special. Use some of the techniques we talked about when making jewelry and you’ll have brand new accessories in no time.

So there you have it—beautiful ideas for adding a luminescent touch to your Easter holiday. Always remember to keep your workstation organized and work in a well-ventilated area if you’re working with E-6000 glue.

Happy Easter!
