Get Your Spring Rhinestone Wardrobe Ready

It’s time to put your winter rhinestone holiday wardrobe in storage and break out your springtime bling!

Don’t have as many items in your bling spring wardrobe as you would like? Try these ideas for adding sparkle to some of your seasonal staples with these DIY tips.

1. Flip Flops

Whether as a gift for a friend or for yourself (there’s no shame in that!) you are going to love these rhinestone flip flops.

You will need the following:

  • -Flip flops
  • -Rhinestones
  • -E-6000 Glue
  • -Toothpicks

The type of rhinestone you choose is totally up to you. You may want to stick with all one color and size or mix it up a bit. This is your project so have fun with it!

Use the toothpick to carefully spread glue across the inner edge of the flip flop strap. We think it looks great to do two rows of rhinestones across the strap but you can place yours however you like. Once you have applied the glue, allow it to sit for 10 to 15 seconds so that is starts to set. Then carefully place the rhinestones in the glue. It’s as easy as that! Allow 48 hours for the glue to fully dry and they are ready to wear.

2. Bathing Suits

If you have browsed blinged out bathing suits anytime recently, your eyes have likely widened in shock when you see the not-so-glamourous price tag. Simply use these designs as inspiration to create your very own rhinestone bikini or one-piece suit.

You will need the following:

  • -Bathing suit
  • -E6000 glue
  • -rhinestones
  • -cotton swabs

Using any pattern you like (it’s great to find inspiration online) pick out the stones you would like to use to make it. This is truly up to you and will make your bathing suit one-of-a-kind. Start on the outer edges and work your way in. Apply your glue with a cotton swab, allow it to set for 10 to 15 seconds and then start placing the rhinestones in the glue. Continue on until your entire design is created.

3. Bridal Sash

Wedding season is once again upon us! Consequently, place the word “wedding” or “bridal” before anything and you will instantly see the price skyrocket. If you are a bride this season, congratulations! Now is the time to bring your love of rhinestones front and center. One of the growing trends in bridal couture is the bridal sash or belt. You are already spending a fortune on your big day so save money where you can and make your own.

You will need the following:

  • -Rhinestone trim
  • -Double-sided satin ribbon
  • -invisible thread
  • -needle
  • -scissors

Carefully cut the rhinestone trim to your desired size and then make sure you are leaving about an inch of ribbon on each end of the sash. This will later be folded under and stitched to continue the clean look. Next, hand-sew each row of your rhinestone trim on to the ribbon. Then you will need to sew the hook to one end of the sash and the eye on the other. Then you are all set and ready to sparkle on your big day.
